WELCOME TO DOLLARTHINK!
What can we do for you?
As educators ourselves, we know that teachers are always looking for fresh material to enrich their classrooms. A really fine teacher wants to present material that is engaging, timely and useful. This course is updated annually; it contains material your students will want to know; and, with our economy failing around us, the topic could hardly be timelier. This course is everything you need to cover the most important topic your students will ever learn.
Why should you care about presenting this material?
If you don't, who will? We currently know of no high school or community college courses in personal economics. Where better to present this information than in a school where adults with experience can review the material and explain it? I'm sure any number of us knows college graduates, for example, who never heard of a title insurance policy or an installment sale contract until they had to sign one in the course of their lives. If schools don't teach this material and parents either don't know it or just won't talk about it with their sons and daughters, then how will the next generation learn it?
Additionally, a large part of our high school and community college population today is composed of immigrants. Many families new to the United States are not familiar with our economic system. By assigning this course material to the young adult segment of this group, the material will desseminate into their families and communities, helping them all to be better consumers and participants in the economy at large.
How much is it going to cost?
$10.
We know that school districts today aren't spending on anything that doesn't directly affect the standardized testing on which everyone is so heavily focused. We know that you probably already spend money out of your own pocket to supplement your school's resources. We know you still want the best for your students. So, we have kept the price to a minimum.
If you email us your name and your email address, along with the name, address and phone number of the school where you teach, we will verify your status there and email you a copy of the answer key to the puzzles, TO DO's, word searches, and review question modules at no additional cost.
Our recommendations
Take just one module here and incorporate it into your life skills, econ or social studies classes. There are enough interactive segments to each module that you need not provide anything additional to have a complete lesson plan for that module's topic. This course is easy to use and complete.
We also suggest that as a precursor to the readings, you assign earning the $10 cost of the course to each student. That jumping off point will naturally lead right into the first module on how to earn money, how to get a job, etc. The discussion on how they earned it and how long it took, etc. will be an effortless and spontaneous opener to the entire field of money management.
Feedback
If there is a module that your students found particularly useful, please tell us. If there is something that you would like to see us include as we update this course, let us know. We value your input.
